Travel & Stay
A destination wedding asks a lot of the people we love, so here is everything we know to make planning easy. Ask us anything — truly.
Getting here
The closest airport is Florence Airport (FLR), roughly 45 minutes from the venue by car. Pisa (PSA) and Bologna (BLQ) often have more flight options depending on where you're coming from. Flying into Rome and taking the train up to Florence is also a great option — we did exactly this and loved the ride through the countryside. It works especially well if you're adding extra time in Italy before or after the wedding.
Where to stay
Countryside charm (5–10 minutes away): look for agriturismi (converted farmhouses) or small inns in Strada in Chianti or Chiocchio. Village life (15 minutes away): a boutique hotel or rental in Greve in Chianti puts you within walking distance of cafes, pizzerias, and wine shops. We're planning a shuttle between the castle and Greve on the wedding night. City stay (35–40 minutes away): downtown Florence lets you enjoy the city by day and drive down to the castle for events — just plan countryside transportation in advance. Our weekend falls in peak season in Tuscany, so we'd book as early as you can.
Getting around
We highly recommend renting a car — it's by far the easiest way to move through the countryside. If you'd rather not drive, there is a bus from Florence to Greve. On the wedding night we're planning shuttle service between the castle and Greve. Please note that Uber and taxis do not operate reliably out in the countryside.
